Happy New Year! Wow! I cannot believe it is already January! We have had a very fun, busy and educational first week back to school. I am so impressed at how quickly the students returned to their routines and how eager they were to get back on track. I have enjoyed hearing about what they did over break, sharing stories and spending time together again.
It has also been very exciting getting to know our student teacher! We are so lucky to have Ms. Anke Rademacher in our classroom this semester. She is currently getting her teaching credential at NDNU and will be working in our classroom. The Huskies have been very welcoming and enjoy sharing information about our classroom with her.
This week in Room 2 we have been busy with Reading, Writing, Spelling, PBL and Math. Here is some information about what we have been doing and some pictures too!
In Reading Workshop we have been discussing Point of View and all Guided Reading Groups have started new Chapter Books!
We have also enjoyed incorporating PBL into our Reading Workshop. We have been reading some very interesting and educational books that tie into our current mini unit on the Civil Rights Movement. I have enjoyed hearing the connections students are making to themselves, current events, historical events, and books we have read. They are so eager to learn more and I look forward to updating you on their learning journey.
In Math, we are continuing our study of Long Multiplication. Our current Math Talks have been full of mathematical discussions and reasoning.
In Writing, we are continuing to review skills and apply them to our paragraph about Goals for 2016. I know that they will all work hard to achieve the goals they have set, and I look froward to sharing their final paragraphs with you soon.
It looks like 2016 will continue to be busy in Room 2 - more learning and fun to come in Fourth Grade!
Love,
Ms. Gomez
